A message from your Evidence Based Birth® Instructor...
My personal story of birth is a familiar one. I describe it in more detail here but the summary is: I felt like birth was done to me. This, as opposed to being the central decision maker, and feeling nurtured, through an event that mattered- one that I would remember for a lifetime.
That experience lead me to my career as a doula and childbirth educator, a journey that taught me that birth satisfaction was most impacted by; being well supported and listened to, being honoured as the primary decision maker, and having confidence in childbirth. This conflicted with what I would learn of our maternity care system- that the best available research does not always match common care practices across North America and that the gold standard of truly informed decision making is not always unfolding as it should.
My subsequent births were far better. I was prepared and confident in my body's ability to birth my baby, my care providers, and my support team. Birthing my babies, on my terms, made me feel like I could do anything! My hope is that every birthing person can feel this empowered through their birth experiences, no matter what curve balls nature throws at you.
Aaaannnnddd... here's the good news: Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Classes are designed to skillfully mentor you and your partner in evidence based care, comfort measures, and advocacy, so that you can embrace your birth and parenting experiences with courage and confidence. My goal is for you to feel supported every step of the way!
Will you join me and step towards your own best birth experience?
-Wanda

When should I take this class?
Take this class any time that is convenient for you. I suggest counting back 3 months from your due date and decide if- for you- this is enough learning time. Determine if a class is available near that time and if not, schedule your class sooner. The class stretches 6 weeks (unless accelerated) and I suggest you leave at least about 3 weeks after the class to process the information and plan for the big day.
