Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding moms of the past, present and future (yes, you pregnant ladies too!) are invited to gather to GIVE and RECIEVE; support, understanding, encouragement and friendship. We want to foster these relationships in an open and non-judgemental environment where new and pregnant moms, grandmothers or other women interested in joining in, always feel welcome. We want to support you on your breastfeeding and mothering journeys, however that looks in your home.
To be clear:
-no breastfeeding experience necessary, you may just be curious about it! Come learn!
-you may not be currently breastfeeding (I for example have not breastfed for a some time!)- that's ok!
-we're interested in you coming to both support others or receive support- you may just find your tribe!
I am one of the "leaders" at the The East Hants Breastfeeding Support Group. The group meets twice a month at Nova Centre (also known as "the old Elmsdale Elementary school"), 224 Highway 214, Elmsdale, Nova Scotia. We're on Facebook too! Click here. See poster invitation below for monthly meeting times.
Meetings are always FREE and young children are welcomed to come along. We have snacks and refreshments for you to enjoy, as well as a lending library of books and dvds on all things breastfeeding and parenting. All meetings are "drop-ins"- designed with busy women in mind!
We sometimes have topics that generate conversation, but they are put on the "back-burner" for any questions or concerns raised by the attendees. We all benefit when breastfeeding works! Here are the benefits of mother-to-mother breastfeeding support:
If you would like to get email updates, to be sure you receive meeting reminders, please contact me and ask to be put on our East Hants Breastfeeding support group email list.

- pregnant women gain knowledge in preparation for breastfeeding
- mothers receive support and learn from the wisdom and the experiences of other mothers
- babies get their choice food as well as a healthy start in life
- partners benefit because the well supported mom has greater confidence, coping skills and resources when questions arise
- family members gain knowledge and learn how to support breastfeeding women
- health care providers benefit from being able to refer mothers to resources specifically designed to provide the support they need
